I've beaten it it one sitting a couple of times.

Nintendo Times is a proud contributor to Open Critic. When it comes to the music Faxanadu has a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. You do get used to it but it never feels natural. Most of your frustration will come from terrible enemy placement and the need to constantly backtrack to buy keys. It's a surprisingly long game, and it can easily take first-timers upward of 5-6 hours to finally lay waste to the Evil One's plans. Experience is handled differently here. But it seems like the game gets alot better if you commit to it. There are no overworld treks (no getting lost), but there's still a bit of backtracking (after you fight the first boss, for example), but otherwise, it's not too easy to get lost. An 8 is an apt score.

I've heard of this back when it was out and never got a chance to play it.

"you spend most of the game walking on a giant tree that's slowly dying. In some ways it adds to the creepiness factor, but in others it sort of look a bit garish.
