Its hazardous mountain trek feels more immediate than, say, the one in The Mountain Between Us, but it's no rollercoaster adventure, either. The cinematography by Todd McMullen looks great, despite the fact that much of the shooting must have been done under difficult weather conditions in remote locations (mostly filmed in Montana). But, the father was portrayed so one-dimensionally for so long in the film. While there is much to admire emotionally and visually about this movie, there was just so much wrong technically as in how one goes into the wilderness, which is something I know a great deal about, that the ineptitude of the research of that kept getting in my way.
